Spring Plant Sale at the Emerald Coast Flower and Garden Festival
Are your fingers itching to get down and dirty in the garden, do your eyes long to see the blooming colors of spring outside your window, or are you in the market for some new plants to satisfy your need for horticulture therapy? Well, relieve the itch, let your eyes wander, and your therapy session begin at the Emerald Coast Flower and Garden Festival held on the Pensacola Junior College Milton campus. The Friends of the Gardens of Northwest Florida, UF students, and PJC students have joined in an effort to provide a variety of plants that are sure to look great in your garden and answer some of your gardening questions. Vendor booth fees will go toward scholarships for students seeking degrees in Horticulture related fields at the UF/PJC Milton campus.
Some of the other Festival events will include a Small Standard Flower Show, walking tours through the UF test gardens and greenhouses, exhibits and plant sales from local plant societies, and vendors for garden-related items. The Festival will provide ideas for gardens large and small. Many of the plants that will be provided are locally grown and native to the area. The exhibits will be divided into annuals, perennials, natives, and trees and shrubs. It will be a great place to pick up some plants that are a landscaping necessity because they are durable, dependable, and already connected to this area’s environment.
The Festival is free, open to the public, and handicapped accessible. The campus is located on Hwy. 90, Milton, Fla. The Festival is always on the first weekend of April and the hours are Friday (noon-5 p.m.), Saturday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.), and Sunday, (10 a.m.-4 p.m.).
