    Background

    Dr. J. Bryan Unruh, Associate Professor of Environmental Horticulture at the University of Florida - Milton Campus holds a 70% extension and 30% teaching position. Dr. Unruh teaches courses in Turfgrass Culture, Landscape and Turfgrass Management, and Golf and Sports Turf Management. Dr. Unruh's responsibilities as an extension turfgrass specialist include managing a 24-acre turfgrass research/demonstration field laboratory, planning and implementing turfgrass educational field days, seminars, and regional conferences for the state of Florida and the upper gulf coast region, and leading the statewide turfgrass extension design team. Dr. Unruh frequently speaks about turfgrass management in many different venues across the country.

    Dr. Unruh received his Ph.D. in 1995 from Iowa State University, Ames, IA where he conducted research in the area of exploiting a naturally occurring herbicide derived from corn. Dr. Unruh earned his M.S. and B.S. degrees from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS in 1991 and 1989, respectively. Much of his work at Kansas State was aimed at improving herbicide and plant growth regulator efficacy. He is a member of numerous honorary societies and is active in the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
